England Futsal Confirms Participating Clubs and Competition Structure for the 2026–27 FA National Futsal Series

Following our recent announcement confirming England Futsal's appointment to operate the FA National Futsal Series for the 2026–27 season, we are pleased to confirm the participating clubs and competition format for the new campaign.
Over the past week, we have worked directly with clubs across the National Futsal Series to confirm participation, discuss competition arrangements and finalise league placements. We would like to thank every club for its constructive engagement and positive approach throughout this important transition.
Providing stability for the competition has been our immediate priority. While this season's structure has been designed to ensure a successful and sustainable return, we recognise there is further work to review and develop the competition in partnership with clubs and the Clubs Steering Group to support the long-term growth of futsal in England.
League placements for the forthcoming season have been made in line with existing league status and the decisions of The FA's Football Development Committee, and the structure is published subject to formal FA ratification, which is underway.

Competition Format
Following consultation with clubs, the 2026-27 competition formats for each division will be:
Men's Tier 1
Home and away fixtures.
Top four teams qualify for the end-of-season play-offs. The winners qualify for a place in the UEFA Futsal Champions League.
Bottom club is relegated to Tier 2.
Men's Tier 2
Home and away fixtures.
Division champions are promoted to Tier 1.
Teams finishing second, third, fourth and fifth in each division qualify for that division’s promotion play-offs, with the play-off winner from each division also promoted to Tier 1.
Bottom club from each division relegated to Tier 3.
Men’s Tier 3 (Promotion and Relegation)
The National Futsal League (Tier 3.1) North and South winners will be promoted to Tier 2.
Any further promotion places will be considered as part of the structural consultation taking place with clubs during the season.
Women's Tier 1
Home and away fixtures, in addition to centralised fixtures.
Top four teams qualify for the end-of-season play-offs.
Bottom two clubs are relegated.
Women's Tier 2
Home and away fixtures, in addition to centralised fixtures.
Top two teams in each division qualify for divisional play-offs.
Winners of each divisional play-off are promoted to Tier 1.
Promotion Standards
All promotion is subject to clubs meeting the entry standards for the tier they would move into, covering areas such as governance, venue and operational readiness.
These standards will be communicated to clubs during the season, well ahead of any promotion being decided, so every club knows exactly what is required.
Where a qualifying club does not meet the standards, or chooses not to take its place, clear published guidelines will determine which club is offered the opportunity.
Please note that during the season England Futsal will work with clubs and the Clubs Steering Group on the evolution of the competition structure, including promotion and relegation for the 2027-28 season and beyond.
This season's format has been designed to support and safeguard the long-term development of the league.
Season Start
Following discussions with clubs and consideration of venue availability and operational readiness, the league start date is:
WEEKEND OF 19-20TH SEPTEMBER
A full competition calendar, including fixture dates, registration deadlines, cup competitions (where applicable) and other key milestones, will be communicated directly with clubs next week. Our next public competition update will be communicated week commencing 10th August.
Fixture scheduling is now underway, coordinated with the National Futsal League’s Tier 3 calendar so that clubs with teams across tiers can share home matchdays where possible, and built around the England Futsal performance pathway calendar. Further information will follow with the fixtures, including club fees, match official arrangements, competition regulations, registration and operational guidance.
Today's announcement marks another significant milestone in the mobilisation of the FA National Futsal Series. While there is still work to complete before the opening fixtures, we remain focused on delivering a competition that is safe, professionally managed and sustainable, while continuing to work collaboratively with clubs to shape the future of the National Futsal Series.
