Last updated: 24.07.26The England Futsal Group is pleased to announce that, following a competitive tender process, we have been appointed by The Football Association to operate the FA National Futsal Series for the 2026–27 season.
The competition will include both the Men's and Women's National Futsal Series across Tier 1 and Tier 2, providing the highest levels of domestic futsal competition in England.
We are grateful to The FA for the confidence they continue to place in our current delivery model, to the Clubs who provided a letter of support as part of the application process (and to the Leadership Group of Club representatives) and look forward to working closely with the broader futsal ecosystem and partners to deliver a successful national competition.
As with any transition or change management programme of this scale, the handover process is complex.
Recognising also the time of year, the challenges faced by the current licence holder, the recent weeks of uncertainty, balancing urgent priorities and ensuring a safe, compliant and well administered competition will take time and energy from across the Game.
Over the coming weeks, we will work closely with club stakeholders and The FA to ensure a smooth and effective transition while engaging openly with the wider futsal community throughout.
We have already been working collaboratively with the Clubs Steering Group to support the transition and will continue to do so as the mobilisation progresses.

Our immediate priority is to deliver a stable, professionally managed start to the season. While there are opportunities to strengthen and develop the National Futsal Series over time, our initial focus is on establishing the people, processes and governance required to deliver a consistent, well-run competition.
Longer-term improvements will be shaped by evidence, collaboration and the experiences of this season rather than rushed implementation.
Between now and the planned league start date—which we will confirm in our next NFS update by the end of the month—we will focus on a mobilisation phase, establishing the operational, governance, and competition structures required to ensure the National Futsal Series is fully prepared for the new season.
During this period, our priorities are to:
Complete the transition and handover of competition operations with The FA.
Continue to engage with clubs and the Clubs Steering Group through regular communication and collaboration.
Confirm the competition structure, participating clubs, fixtures and key operational arrangements.
Recruit and support the competition workforce, including league administration and match officials.
Finalise and publish competition regulations, governance arrangements and operational guidance.
Ensure all competition management, safeguarding and administrative systems are fully operational ahead of the first fixtures.

This season represents an important milestone for English Futsal. Our ambition is not only to deliver a successful National Futsal Series in 2026–27, but also to establish strong foundations that support the competition's continued evolution into the future.
We recognise that the National Futsal Series is part of a broader journey for the sport. Our responsibility this season is to deliver a competition that is safe, consistent and professionally managed, while listening carefully to the experiences of clubs, officials and volunteers.
The insight gained throughout the season will help shape future discussions about the continued evolution of the competition.
Success will not be measured by the amount of change introduced before the first fixture, but by delivering a National Futsal Series that earns the confidence of its participants and leaves the competition stronger than we found it.
