About: The University of Sunderland Futsal Club is a dynamic and ambitious programme committed to growing futsal in the North East and beyond. Based at the heart of a vibrant university community, we provide high-performance opportunities alongside inclusive pathways for player development.
We currently operate:
NFS Men’s First Team – A competitive squad of 16 players, representing the university in national fixtures.
Men’s BUCS Squad – A performance-focused group of 20+ players, supporting progression into the NFS environment and the BUCS leagues.
Women’s Futsal Programme – Including a Women’s BUCS Team, with 12 committed players.
With over 40 active players, our club offers structured coaching, competitive opportunities, and a clear pathway into elite futsal. We are proud to be part of the England Futsal community and passionate about promoting the sport at university and regional levels.
Proudest Moment: Our proudest achievement is the launch of our National Futsal Series team, with the Women's team winning promotion to the Super Series in 2022.
Bootham Girls’ & Ladies’ Futsal Club
Founded: 2017
Location: York
About: Bootham Girls’ & Ladies’ Futsal Club in York was founded in 2017 by Chris and Suzy Collins with a simple goal: to keep girls involved in sport for as long as possible.
We are proud to provide a fun, safe, challenging and inclusive environment where every player is valued. No girl is ever turned away, as we believe everyone deserves the chance to play, learn and grow through futsal.
We offer sessions for girls from U10 to U16, a Ladies Open Age competitive team and a new Ladies Open Age Fun Session for those who want to play for enjoyment and fitness.
Our club now includes 55 academy members, 20 ladies players and 25 participants in our fun sessions, all sharing a love for the game and a strong community spirit.
Proudest Moment: Our proudest moment came in May 2023 when we won the National Futsal Series Plate.
It was even more special because four of our academy graduates played in the team that day, and one of them scored.
We were supported by a fantastic group of fans who travelled to Derby for the final, creating an unforgettable atmosphere.
